Community Education

Barbie Lee, Director of Occupational Development

In 2004, an estimated 62,100 unintentional injury deaths occurred in the home and community venue, accounting for 56% of all unintentional injury deaths that year. About 1 out of 17 people experience an unintentional injury in the home/community venue and about 1 out of 4,800 died from such an injury. The Safety Council of the Ozarks is dedicated to preventing off-the-job injuries and deaths from occurring by providing safety and injury prevention education, public awareness programs, and training.

The Community Education Department at the Safety Council of the Ozarks provides safety and injury prevention programs for children, teens, adults, caregivers, and educators on a variety of topics including seat belts and car seat safety, bike/pedestrian safety, fire prevention, falls prevention, and water safety. The Council also provides CPR/First Aid training for parents and caregivers. The Community Education Department can provide assistance with speakers, safety fair displays and safety information.
